Lord Krishna’s Learning Place: It is believed that Lord Krishna, along with his brother Balram and friend Sudama, received their education here. Ancient Gurukul System: The ashram represents the traditional Vedic education system, where students lived with their guru and learned various sciences, scriptures, and warfare. Spiritual and Historical Importance: The ashram is a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, and guru-shishya (teacher-student) tradition. Gomti Kund: A sacred water reservoir inside the ashram, believed to have been created by Lord Krishna to provide water to the ashram.
Lord Krishna’s Guru Dakshina: After completing his education, Guru Sandipani asked for a special Gurudakshina (teacher’s fee). Krishna and Balram retrieved the lost son of their guru from Samudra (the ocean god) as a mark of gratitude. Gomti Kund’s Mythological Importance: It is said that Krishna summoned waters from all holy rivers into the Gomti Kund so that his guru would never have to leave Ujjain for sacred water.
